Tour Type

Rush Lake is one of the highest alpine lakes in the world, sitting at a height of approximately 4,694 m above sea level, situated in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Rush Lake spans an area of about 1.5 square kilometres. It expands during the summer due to melting glaciers, it freezes over during the winter. It is a part of the Karakoram Mountain range, which is known for its high peaks and stunning landscapes. The area surrounding Rush Lake offers breathtaking views of some of the highest peaks in the world, including Spantik Peak (Golden Peak), Mair Peak, and Ultar Sar. The scenery is particularly stunning at sunrise and sunset when the mountains are bathed in golden light. The lake is a popular destination for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts. It usually starts from the village of Hoper in Nagar Valley and takes about 6 to 7 days round trip from Hoper and back to Hoper. Trekkers pass through picturesque landscapes, lush green meadows, and rugged terrains to reach the lake. While trekking to Rush Lake, trekkers might encounter various species of plants and animals found only in the northern area, including marmots, Himalayan ibex, and a variety of bird species. The Weather conditions around Rush Lake can be unpredictable, with temperatures dropping significantly at night, even during the summer months. Trekkers need to be well-prepared with appropriate gear for cold weather and altitude sickness. Overall, Rush Lake is a pristine and remote destination, offering adventure seekers an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Karakoram mountains and experience the tranquillity of the high-altitude wilderness.
