Tour Type

Broad Peak or the “Falchan Kangri”, which is the name the local people give it, is situated on the Pakistan-China border in the Karakoram Range with a height of 8,051m above sea level. Broad Peak is the 12th-highest mountain in the world. It is part of the Gasherbrum massif, which also includes four of the world's 14 eight-thousanders. Due to the mountain's massive bulk and wide summit ridge, it is named Broad Peak. Falchan Kangri means the same as Broad Peak in the local language, Balti. The first successful ascent of Broad Peak was made in 1957 by an Austrian team led by Marcus Schmuck. The other members were Wintersteller, Kurt Diemberger and Hermann Buhl. They summit this peak without any Oxygen supplement nor any high-altitude porter support. Since then, several expeditions have attempted, contributing to its reputation as a formidable yet achievable peak. To summit Broad Peak, several routes have been established till now. The most commonly used route to summit Broad Peak is the West Ridge and the Normal Route from the Southwest Spur. Although Broad Peak is counted as a less challenging mountain as compared to the other mountains and its neighbour K2, but still, presents significant challenges, which include unpredictable weather conditions, extreme cold, and high-altitude sickness. Climbers may also face challenges such as crevasses, seracs, and steep ice slopes, especially in the later stages of the ascent. Climbers need to be well-prepared mentally and physically to navigate these obstacles. A Broad Peak expedition offers climbers a relatively easy summit of one of the 14 eight-thousanders and allows conquering one of the world's highest peaks. Summiting Broad Peak is like embarking on a thrilling adventure in the aesthetic Karakoram Mountains. It's a tough climb, but if you take it on, you're in for a remarkable and exciting journey.
