K2 or Mount Godwin-Austen, also known as Chogho Ree among the locals. The world’s second-highest peak with a height of 8611m from the sea level. A perfect adventure for mountaineers and climbers. But, before thinking about K2, it is highly recommended that an adventurous trip up to the K2 base camp must be made. It will help you understand what difficulties you may face if you make your determination towards K2. Trekking up to the K2 base camp gives a great experience of trekking in the extreme weather conditions and deadly routes of the Karakoram range. And you can unearth this experience with us. The base camp is located at about 5100m in height from the sea level. The duration of this trekking usually ranges from two to three weeks. The base camp is not the highest point. You have to travel through more heights before reaching the base camp. The challenge is a loop route that goes through Gondogoro La which is at a height of about 5585m. The Gondogoro La holds a spectacular view of four majestic peaks of 8,000m which are K2, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Broad Peak, as well as some other sky-touching peaks including Gasherbrum 4, Laila Peak, and Gondogoro Peak, all from a single viewing point. The journey usually begins in the village of Askole Shigar. Till Askoli, it is accessible by road. The trek then goes along with the Braldu River and goes through scenic landscapes, enchanting meadows, dense forests, and rocky terrains. This route covers Paju, an aesthetic campsite with breathtaking views of Paju Peak; Urdukas, A panoramic location enclosed by sky-high peaks and stunning views; Concordia, an immense glacial junction from where you can have spectacular views of K2, broad peak and other surrounding peaks; Baltoro Glacier and K2 base camp. From there, taking a slightly different route, from the Gondogoro la, the trip moves toward Hushe Valley Shigar, then back to Islamabad. During the trek, you may encounter rivers, moraines and challenging ascents.
